A Historic Baltimore Mansion, Lovingly Restored

Rachael's Inner Harbor Boutique Inn occupies one of Baltimore's most storied addresses. Built in the 18th century as the home of a prosperous brick baron, this Washington Boulevard mansion was already a landmark when George and Martha Washington visited in the 1790s. More than two centuries later, the home has been painstakingly restored to preserve its original character while offering every modern comfort.

The restoration took years to complete. When Rachael's Dowry Bed and Breakfast opened here in April 2010, the historic bones of the house, its grand staircase, original architectural details, and beautiful garden had been brought back to life. The nine guest rooms are furnished with authentic antiques that reflect the style of the era in which the home was built, while private baths, free Wi-Fi, and Roku TVs ensure guests want for nothing.

In 2026, the inn was renamed Rachael's Inner Harbor Boutique Inn, reflecting its evolution into a boutique property. The spirit of the house remains unchanged: independently owned, personally run, and committed to giving every guest a quieter, more intimate alternative to a large downtown hotel.

Ridgely's Delight: One of Baltimore's Most Historic Neighborhoods

The inn sits in Ridgely's Delight, one of Baltimore's oldest and most distinctive neighborhoods. Named for Charles Ridgely, the area was a center of brick manufacturing in the 18th and 19th centuries — and it was those very bricks that built much of the city you see today. The neighborhood's Federal and Greek Revival rowhouses have survived largely intact, making it one of the few places in Baltimore where you can still walk streets that look much as they did when the city was young.
